This is a how-to video that elevates the low and quick backside 180, introduced in the previous tutorial, to the next level with a floating feeling. The key is not to do an ollie that scrapes like a backside 180 power slide, but rather to pop a solid ollie while rotating your upper body, and finish the rotation with a slightly late spin.
STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL
1.Rotate your body first, and do straight Ollie.

While moving straight without letting your line drift as much as possible, first rotate your upper body, and at the moment when your upper body and shoulders are almost parallel with the board, snap the tail straight down and focus on doing a straight, high ollie. This is the biggest difference from the beginner-level backside 180.
2.Bring tail to forward with your back foot.
If your upper body rotation is correct, the board will rotate about 90° in the air even with a straight ollie. Once your posture is stable in the air, use your back foot to push the tail in the direction of travel, rotating around the center of the board, and land.
3.Start rotating when you reach to the peak.

The timing to start consciously rotating the board is at the peak of your ollie. Use the twisted posture from the pre-rotation movement and spin all at once. Using this method for a backside 180 gives you more height and a floating feeling. As you get used to it, you will be able to tweak your back foot and style it out, allowing for an even more refined 180. Once you are comfortable with the beginner backside 180, definitely give this a try.
